Hi, this web site has been great and I have read all the answers, so I understand the benefits of using an LLC for real estate/rental properties, and I also understand you must register that LLC in whatever state you have the property. For multiple properties, I also understand you can have another "holding company LLC" to house all the separate properties/LLCs in your portfolio.
I live in New York state and am about to purchase a property in Texas, so I must register a Texas LLC to house the property. Since I am a sole owner of the LLC this probably isn't a big deal right now... but down the line, if I own multiple properties in different states, where would you recommend setting up the holding company LLC? I have read how certain states might have better anonymity features (New Mexico), certain states might have higher annual fees for reporting (California), etc.
So what would be the "best" State to set up the holding LLC (lowest fees, most features, etc.)? Any other things to avoid? Thanks in advance.
I'm looking into incorporating my CA rental property in NV b/c of the benefits NV corps offer (Private veil, minimul report, no state corp. tax, etc). Is it wise to incorporate in NV vs. CA? What other annual fees and tax reporting should I consider? Are the tax benefits worth the cost of incorporating? Any recommendations are strongly welcomed.
I am a resident of NY and would like to form an LLC soley for income property in NY. Can I file my LLC in Nevada to remain anonymous? Since Nevada does not release LLC owner information. Furthermore, I would file taxes for the property in my personal income taxes in NY. (which is where I live and where the income property is located). I would not be avoiding taxes, just remaining anonymous.

Thank you for your explanation regarding a DBA vs an LLC.
My circumstance has a slight variation and I'm wondering what you would advise.
I'm an artist using part of my own name Deborah Magone. My legal name is Deborah Magone-Fragale. Would Deborah Magone be considered a ficticious name?
Would you recommend as an artist not to use my own name as an LLC or DBA for possible legal repercussions i.e. personal law suits?
What do other artists do when creating their own line of merchandise ?
Thank You,
:Deborah
I live abroad (In Argentina) but technically I am "living" in California and a resident thereof. I want to form some kind of entity for my new online marketing company, either an LLC or a DBA. Whats the cheapest, best place to do so, without excessive hassle?
I live in New Jersey and want to form an LLC to begin purchasing and renting out or flipping out of state properties. I am looking into properties in Florida, Michigan, Texas and Nevada. I've heard that Wyoming may be the state in which to form this LLC. Can you offer me any advice on this matter?
Thanks,

Hi there,
Thank you for your time in answering this. I am interested in setting up an online company that will sell products in the US from US wholesalers and suppliers. This requires I have some kind of entity set up to legalize the process. Firstly, Is this 'entity" and method of doing business able to be done legally without any implications? Second, what taxes are there to think about? and lastly, if it is indeed possible, please inform me of my next steps to set this up.
Kind regards.
I am not USA resident. I am currently living in Chicago on a student (F1) visa and I am on my OPT program (1 year of work permit) and I am driving a truck. I am wondering about how to collect profits from the business when my work permit expiry and I am not allow to work in the US any more? I have concluded that an LLC in Illinois would be the best fit. My further plans are to purchase couple of trucks and to hire drivers who will work for my LLC.
My question is: If I open a LLC, will I be liable to US regarding tax income? Or my LLC business?
I have an S-corporation set up in Nevada. I am in the works of putting together an online website that will be selling goods to consumers. My initial plan was to just set up a dba using my brand name under my current corporation. Because I am not a Nevada resident, and I will be dealing with inventory, I am now thinking this might not be the best way to do this because I dont physically live in Nevada. Do you have any recommendations on how to set up my website business?
My business is tutoring students. It is on a cash basis, and I am the only employee. Do I need an LLC?

Good day. I am Ukrainian citizen and temporarily live in the USA as F1 student. I am interested in extending my business and would like to incorporate a company in the USA which will be involved in selling sports products and sports equipment. Two questions arised in regard to incorporation I would like to be familiar with:

Hello,
I'm interested in forming an LLC. I am not a US citizen and I do not live in the US. I would be forming the LLC with a partner who is a US citizen and lives in the US.
Questions are:
1) Is is possible to have two partners from different nationalities? (I would guess it is)
2) How would the money be transferred to me being international? Can the LLC make international wire transfers? Or will I need a US bank account?
3) Do I have to pay taxes in the US or in my home country?
Thanks a lot in advance!
Nicolas.
I want to start working as a freelancer as publicist/graphic designer. I live in Georgia, but I am going to advertise myself by web, ads, facebook in different near states; also including Puerto Rico. Which is the best way for me to go: DBA or LLC? Also, my fear is that someone stole my business name and logo design (because I am not going to use my personal name). Thanks.

I'm a foreign citizen currently working for a British company in the U.S. I've had a business idea that i want to explore and i am wondering how i can go about pursuing the idea. My understanding is i can start a company, however i can't actually work for the company, which kind of makes it difficult to get off the ground.
My question is am i allowed to start and work for the company as long as I'm technically volunteering i.e. i wouldn't draw a salary and any money I make would be through profits paid by the company?
The 2nd option i have considered is forming the company in the UK and working for it. However as i am resident in the U.S. would that cause issues when I try and sell to U.S. companies?
