Can I use my old LLC and old tax ID number from my business?

February 26, 2013 Asked by Kathy

question:

I had an LLC for my business but let my professional license lapse. Now I am starting my business up again. Do I need to get a new LLC paperwork and tax ID number? The business name is the same. It is an acupunture business.

answer:

Kathy,

If your LLC is still in good standing you could simply apply for a new license and keep the same company. If it is not, and cannot be reinstated, then you would need to start all over again, with a new company, new tax ID and new license.
